As part of its goal to provide free cloud computing skills training to 29 million people by 2025, AWS has introduced AWS Cloud Quest: Cloud Practitioner, a new game-based 3D role-playing experience.

AWS Cloud Quest: Cloud Practitioner Game is an online open-world, a role-playing game designed to make it easier for people to pick up cloud-computing skills who are new to AWS and want to gain a better understanding of the different services offered by the platform.

Through completing quests, interacting with NPCs (Non-Player Characters), and earning gems by completing the challenges, it seeks to teach you cloud computing fundamentals.

Cloud Practitioner has to complete 12 hands-on assignments using AWS services.  Each assignment includes a business problem, a solution walkthrough, video tutorials, a practice lab, and a DIY exercise. It helps to discover the fundamentals of the AWS Cloud, typical use cases, billing and pricing methods, security ideas, and business repercussions. Players receive feedback on their performance as they go and must use the service to finish the task. Those players who successfully complete the tasks receive points and badges for their accomplishments, which they may use to open new challenges and reach higher levels.

To aid players in learning more about the services and ideas covered in the challenges, the game also provides several resources, such as documentation and whitepapers. Due to this, the game serves as a useful tool for anyone wishing to learn further about AWS in addition to being a fun way to do so.

How to get the AWS Cloud Quest course?

What is in the game?

As the game begins it welcomes the user and tells them about their roles or position, which is Cloud Practitioner.

After welcoming, it prompts you to choose your avatar which is a virtual version of you as the Cloud Practitioner in the game. This section of the game brings back memories of the iconic computer game The Sims.

After creating your character and selecting a badge name that is available, you are launched into the virtual game world, where the journey starts. You immediately notice a giraffe and an ape when you enter. The city area is fairly large and has a variety of diverse features. You may travel around using a hoverboard, and there are many NPCs around who will give you tasks to do.

The Virtual City

As a cloud practitioner in the city, you attempt to address the technical issues with the cloud that various residents are experiencing in exchange for gifts and gems. You are provided access to a tool called “Solution Center” in order to help them.

Solution Center

The issues are all scenarios from actual life. You read about the issue and go to the solution center, where an assistant will provide you with a bunch of links and videos which you can use to learn about various services needed to solve the problem. You can watch videos, read documentation and notes, conduct LABS, and conduct experiments in the Solution Center. At the end of the DIY section, you design a solution for the issue and deliver it to the NPC who gave you the task in return for certain rewards.

Furthermore, to that, you can select various other roles— Serverless Developer, Solutions Architect, Machine Learning Specialist, Security Specialist, or Data Analytics Specialist—and study and put cloud talents to use. The only caveat is that these other roles are subscription based not free like Cloud Practitioner.

In conclusion, AWS Cloud Quest: Cloud Practitioner is a fantastic tool for learning about AWS concepts and services in a fun and engaging manner. Since it is free, it is a great tool for novices who want to learn more about the AWS cloud and its services and develop a practical understanding of them. The challenges in the game are made to put players’ understanding of the many AWS services that are used in real-world situations to the test.

AWS Cloud Quest supports dynamic, fun learning whether you’re just beginning your cloud learning adventure or delving into specific expertise.
